The resolution process is an important part of the SSCCC governance 

The Student Senate for California Community Colleges is a nonprofit organization that is guided by its membership -- Delegates from each of the 116 California Community College student body associations. Students from across the state bring resolutions to the annual General Assembly for consideration. 

The resolutions passed by the Delegate Assembly guide the vision and priorities of the SSCCC. Below is a list of the most recent resolutions passed by the delegates since Fall 2007.

Revisal to FAFSA “Independent” Claim
Status
Completed. In the Spring of 2013 a delegation of students, including the SSCCC President, met with the Under Secretary of the US Department of Education to discuss changes to the FAFSA regarding "Independent Status".

Financial Aid Assistance Campaigns
Status
Completed. The SSCCC has supported the campaign and continues to work with CalPIRG on efforts to increase financial aid. Supporting additional financial aid campaigns is ongoing.

Putting the Bars Behind You
Status
Completed - Ongoing. The SSCCC supported the removal of this provision in the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, however efforts were not successful and the provision still remains. The US Department of Education and President Obama supported the removal of this question from the FAFSA and the SSCCC continues to support these efforts.

Open Educational Resources (OER) Pilot Program

Completed. The SSCCC supported AB 226 which includes language about open education resources. The bill was signed by the Governor.

Status
Ongoing. The SSCCC will continue to monitor the implementation of Proposition 39 (2012) regarding the use of funds for facilities.
